A couple cards... to help take my mind off things...

We're still dealing with all the stuff happening with my Dad. He won't be coming out of the hospital, he will be placed directly from there into a care home, we're just not sure when/where yet. And all the legal stuff, too...

Anyways, I had to bring out my inks this morning. Nothing like ink on the fingers to clear one's head. I just got this set last night, my order came in from my SU friend... this one's called Fresh Cuts.

Cowboy Get Well card for my Dad...

Okay, I decided to re-make my other pop-up card I did today to make it more suitable for my Dad. This is a much more simplified, less frilly card...

Again, here's the link for the tutorial: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/surprise_pop_up_card/

What I used:

Sarsaparilla B&Ts
Black, Colonial White, Barn Red and Twilight cardstocks
Twilight, Barn Red and Black inks
Out West stamp set
Genuine Country stamp set
Say It In Style stamp set
White Uni-ball Signo Gel Pen
Staedtler triplus gel-liner pens in Gold and Silver (for some detail on the cowboy hat)
Black CTMH marker
Twill ribbon
Metal silver grommet (WalMart - sewing dept.)
Pop-dots
1" circle punch
2" circle punch
Circle Coluzzle (for the 2 larger circles)
Sponge

Pop-up Card...

I took out some supplies this morning after I saw the tutorial for this card on the SCS newsletter. Here's the link for the tutorial: Surprise Pop Up Card

What I used:

Cranberry Fleurs Des Jardines B&T (retired)
Cranberry, Olive and White Daisy cardstocks
Cranberry and Black inks
White Uni-ball Signo Gel Pen
Black CTMH marker
Cranberry grosgrain, Black organdy and Olive Chenille Sassy strands
Metal silver grommet (WalMart - sewing dept.)
Pop-dots
1" circle punch
2" circle punch
2 1/2" Mega Marvy Uchida scallop circle punch
3" Giga Marvy Uchida scallop circle punch
Ticket tag corner punch (SU)
Black bitty brad
Sponge

To make the center flowers, I just cut the larger one out of the B&T, inked the edges and pop-dotted it. Then I cut the smaller one from the B&T, inked it's edges, put a bitty brad on it and pop-dotted it onto the larger flower.

I was planning on making a card for my Dad who's in the hospital, but it turned into this. Really not manly at all, but I might give it to him anyway and make him another card that is more his style when I get some more time... You'd think I'd have a card suitable for him in all my gazillions of cards I have made, but no.

My 5 Card Workshop...

This is a 5 card workshop I held at my sister's place this past weekend. She lives in a wonderful brand-spankin' new condo building in Grande Prairie that has an Amenities room on the main floor of her building that she can use anytime for free. It was perfect for holding a workshop. (I actually did a two 2-page layout workshop there on Saturday, and the card workshop on Sunday.) I designed these to be relatively easy, all of them with some sort of technique, although some easier and more basic than others, as they were all brand-new to cardmaking (and scrapbooking). The attendees had a good time and they want me to come back! I'm thinking I'll offer this card workshop at my home sometime in the near future. Although I don't have an 'Amenities room' in my house! LOL How awesome would that be?!?!?

I thought I'd post my other coffee card....

This is the one that I re-created to make it even more cuter than the first one. I gave it to my BFF as a just because card. I AM grateful for her... I know, I know, I'm getting all sappy! She seemed to really like it. Enough that she had to get some Liquid Applique for herself! LOL

Time's Fun When Your Having Flies...

I finally found a little time to play last night... soccer ended up being cancelled when we got there, because of lightening that was way too close, so we were home earlier than usual on a Monday night! Not sure what I'll really use this Fun Times set for, but it was just too cute to pass up! So this is my creation with it.
