Thank You SEW Much (Stampin' Royalty Challenge #8)

I made this card for Stampin' Royalty's Challenge #8.  I am so not great at working with such bright colors, and would never have picked out these colours to use together, but I am happy with how this turned out. 

I had all the cardstock colors, but no patterned papers in these colours.  And my sis has most of my Stampin' Spots, so I had to make due with what I have on hand.

Baby Boy Bear

Isn't he cute?  There's just something about teddy bears... 

As soon as I saw the wings on the Star Power stamp set, I knew they HAD to be paired with the retired Beary Much bear.  I like how this card turned out, but I'm thinking now that I should have used a more solid chocolate brown grosgrain ribbon.  Live and learn.  ;)

Sticky Notes & GUMballs

Cole does the funniest/weirdest things at times.  This was no exception.  He has had his little gumball machine for quite a few years now and after Christmas, he had a Walmart gift card with a few dollars left on it to spend.  He decided to spend the remainder of his gift money to buy one of those 1L sized milk cartons full of gumballs so he could refill his machine.  A few minutes after he got home and filled it, I happened to notice that he added a sticky note for some unknown (to me) reason.  Funny guy!

The design for this layout was completely inspired by my most favouritest scrapbooker in the whole wide world, Jamie Harder.  I love her work soooo much and envy her eye for detail and use of colour.  You can see her layout that inspired mine HERE, just scroll down to the bottom.

A Posy, Double-Sided 4x4 Boxed Card Set

These are a complete CASE from a set made by fellow CTMH Consultant Kelly Triggs.   (Thanks for the inspiration, Kelly!)  She used my general 3x3 box instructions to make a box to hold her 4x4 cards.  So below you will find the measurements I used to make one for myself.  Enjoy!

Here's how to make the same box in a 4x4 size:

First you will need to follow the basic instructions by Becky Roberts found HERE for her Giant Nugget Box, and adjust the measurments to what I've provided below.

CS box: 6 1/4" x 11", scored at 1/2" and 1" along each side

CS insert: 4 1/8" x 10", scored at 4 1/2", 5", 5 1/2"

Transparency: 9" x 10 3/16", scored at 1/2", 4 13/16", 5 5/16", 9 5/8"
Belly band: 2 1/2" x 11", then edge punch it 
B&T for belly band:   1 3/4" x 11", glue to edge punched belly band, then score at 3", 3 9/16", 7 15/16", 8 1/2"
Ribbon length: 30"

Valentine for Lee

I made this card to give to Lee for Valentine's Day, and also for challenge #6 on Stampin' Royalty's blog.

3x3 Thanks Card Tote (with instructions)

This morning I saw a cute little tote made to hold the little milk cartons that can be made with the Big Shot die, which is sold through SU.  I don't have the milk carton die, but I thought this tote could be really cute holding 3x3 cards instead.  I had to make some adjustments in the sizing of the milk carton tote so the cards wouldn't tip out, and this is what I came up with.  :)

Here's my instructions (altered from Ruth Norton's milk carton tote found HERE, shared on LeeAnn Greff's blog):

• Start with 7" x 8 3/4" piece of CS.
• With the 7" side at the top of your Scor-Pal, score at 1 3/4" and 5 1/4".
• Turn so the 8 3/4" side is at the top of your Scor-Pal, and score at 1 3/4" and 3 1/2".   Then carefully score at 5 1/4", scoring only from the outer edge up to the intersecting 1 3/4" score line (see diagram).
• Cut along all solid lines, making sure to trim off the lines I drew in blue which will help when folding up your box.  
• Use a bone folder along all dashed score lines.
• Fold Tabs A in and put glue on both tabs, then adhere to Tabs B one at a time.
• Put glue on the outside of Tabs B, then adhere Tabs C to Tabs B one at a time.
• Decorate the box as desired.

For the delicate flowers, I used the SU Fancy Flower punch with tissue paper.  To make quick work of it, I folded the tissue paper up, over and over until I had a good thickness, and then punched once for each flower on the cards.  For the front of the box, I just used a layer of 3 tissue flowers.  They are held together with a simple brad in the center and just scrunched up by hand.  Quick and easy, just the way I like it.  ;)

Teacher Thank You Gift Box (Stamping Royalty Challenge #5)

I made this teacher thank you gift box for the Stamping Royalty Challenge #5. I was inspired by one I saw on Amy Sheffer's blog. You can see her totally cute project and her box instructions HERE. I had picked up the same apple chipboard book (that Amy used) from Michael's in their $1.50 bins a couple of weeks ago, not having a project in mind at the time, but pretty happy to have bought them all the same. 

I'm not yet sure what I will put in it for a year-end gift for my son's teacher, but I still have some time to figure that out...  lol

Make a Wish

I was inspired to use the 'wish' and the 'candles' stamps after seeing an awesome masculine card made by Karla Kroese that you can see HERE.  I like how whimsical and playful my card turned out.  :)

It's Gonna Be a Busy Year...!

We finally decided this past Oct/Nov to take the plunge and build our new home this year.  About 3 years ago, we bought a 4.2 acre piece of lakefront property on the opposite side of the lake where we live now, and we have been talking about building since then.  We just got our first set of plans yesterday, so the excitement for me is starting to build.

If you want to see more pics and the floor plans the house we are going to build, you can see it HERE.  We've made a few changes to the plans:  added 3 feet onto the master bedroom, which in turn makes the media room above larger as well;  the covered porch is going to be walled in as part of the house and it will become the laundry room, freeing up more space in the mudroom; we will be removing the window in the mudroom and adding an exterior door in it's place; the bay window in the dining room is being replaced with garden doors, as well as the window in the master bedroom will be replaced with garden doors, too.  A few other things too, but I won't bore you with more details.

I'm excited to have the entire bonus room over the garage for my scrapbooking room.  And boy do I need the space... you should see my room I'm in now!  No, actually you shouldn't!  lol  It's so crowded and clausterphobic, oh, and did I mention messy?   It's about a 10' x 11' bedroom, full of tall overflowing shelving.

We will have lots to do, and with this being the first time building, I'm sure we have a lot to learn.  I'll most likely post pictures as we go, but it won't begin until the ground thaws.  The Contractor will begin building around the first week of July.  We just have to get our geo-thermal and Ivan-Hoe systems in place, as well as the foundation before then.

So you all may see (even more) sporadic posts throughout the year, until I get settled into my new space.  Can't wait!  Gotta go check out lighting today...
