Paper Trail Blog Hop for February... Anything Goes!

Welcome to the Paper Trail Blog Hop for February!

Each month we feature a different Close To My Heart paper pack.

You should have arrived from Lynne's blog, but it is a circular hop, so it doesn't matter where you begin.  ;)

February is an exciting month!  We have a brand new Idea Book for Spring and Summer, and it is so full of fantabulous stuff!!!

This month we have decided to do an "anything goes hop" where each hopper gets to choose whatever paper pack they want to use, whether it's from our just-retired Idea Book or from the brand new one.
{That gives each of us a chance/time to get some of the product in-hand if we want to use something new, and if we don't get our new stuff in time, then no pressure.}

So what did I choose to do????

Well, I think you are in luck today...  lol

Since we have 8 new paper packs, and only 6 months to blog hop until the next Idea Book comes out, I am sharing the 3 new paper packs with you this month that we don't have on the roster for the following 5 months.

So here we go!!!

~~~~~~~
Florentine
The papers in this pack are so soft and pretty...
For my first project to share, I created a card.
{I used an old Verve sketch for the layout design.}
Ain't she purty?
I created the flower from Card Chatter - Word Puzzle by stamping the image with Versamark and Pacifica inks onto glossy cardstock.
{The reason I used Pacifica ink, was because sometimes embossing slightly changes the ink color, and when I first tried it with Twilight ink to match the colors in Florentine, it turned the ink more like Lagoon.}
I then sprinkled Clear Detail embossing powder over top, tapped off the excess, and then heat set it.
Then I simply used my waterbrush and Creme Brulee re-inker to paint the flower.
~~~~~~~

Pemberley

This is one of my fave new paper packs in the new Idea Book.

Now this is a fun project... it's a K-Cup Caddie!!!

Now, for anyone who owns a Keurig, who wouldn't want to recieve one of these?

So fun!

You can get the instructions right here for the K-Cup Caddie.

~~~~~~~
Lucy
Okay, being completly honest here, I wasn't so sure about this paper pack.  It's very girly/Easter to me.
But... that's what I love about something that I think of as challenging to me.
I usually end up changing my mind.  lol
Just like in this case.
It will now likely be on my next order.  ;)
And really, who knew there could be a masculine side to Lucy???
I LOVE this card!
In fact, I loved it so much, I decided to re-create it in a feminine version...
Super sweet!
~~~~~~~

Before I go, I thought I would once again share the cover of the new Idea Book.

Well, I guess that's it until next time.

I hope you enjoyed your visit.

Look who's 12... a great boy card!

Cole's turning 12 this year, so I'll be creating some cards for kids who are turning 12 this year.

It's always good to be ready for the last-minute invitation to a friend's birthday party...  ;)

A Little Birdie Told Me...

I love how quickly a card comes together when I'm inspired by a sketch!

I used this week's Deconstructed Sketch #36.

Isn't it adorable?

I made my card 5x5 and used a new paper pack called Footloose.

It's a fairly beachy paper pack, but I didn't have any beach-themed stamps to use, so I used the cute bird from June's Stamp of the Month - Life Is Tweet.

Happy creating!  :)

Supplies used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Paper:  Footloose B&Ts; Colonial White CS
Stamp:  Life Is Tweet - June SOTM
Ink:  Black

Simple 3x3 Valentine

I used Vanilla Cream cardstock for the base... a colour I haven't used for quite awhile.
But it's perfect for this card.

The sentiment and scroll design are from the 10 Things stamp set.

The "u" is from Trinity Alphabet.

And the heart is cut from Stella B&T using my Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge, set at 1 3/4".

I added a little Dk. Chocolate Striped grosgrain ribbon, and a few Bitty Opaques.

Super quick and easy!

Just the way I like it...  ;)

I'm referring to paper scraps.  ;)

What do you do with them???  I keep mine, I admit.

What for???  Well, for projects like this, of course!

Click on photo to see the details...

Inspiration for my card came from this one done by Pamela O'Connor.

This was created with 1" square scrap pieces of B&T and cardstock from the new Florentine paper packet.

It's a very sweet card.

My Newest Card Box... A2 Tray-Style Card Boxed Set with Stella!

I created this adorable boxed set of cards yesterday, while Cole was home sick from school.

Note:  I will have this A2 Tray-Style Card Box tutorial ready in the near future.  Once I have it ready, I will let you all know, and you will be able to get it for free with a purchase of a handmade card

I made 2 cards with this sentiment "Age is just a number...", and the inside reads, "yours will remain unlisted."

And I made the other 2 cards with the sentiment, "With age comes widsom..." and the inside reads, "you're one of the wisest people I know!"

Love those funny sentiments from Just a Number.

I used the new Stella paper packet, and I cut all the shapes, except for the sentiment banner strips and the leaves on the front of the box, with my Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge.

Do you have this cartridge yet???  If not, what are you waiting for?  ;)

Although you can't see it in the picture, the box does hold the A2 envelopes, too.

I'll be sure to post when the tutorial is ready.

Until next time, happy creating!  :)

A2 Tray-Style Card Box:

3 Cute Cards from a 6x6 Card Base....

So this is not my original concept... I got this idea from fellow CTMH Consultant Jennifer Bennett.

Jennifer took a CTMH 6x6 Kraft card and shared how to make it into a 6x3 card, with leftovers to create two 3x3s.  I loved the idea and ran with it... right into my crafting room that is, to create these cards:

On the 6x3 card, I doubled up the cardstock circle that the flower is paper-pieced onto.

I used 3D foam tape to lift it up on the one side, so I could tuck the flap underneath to hold the card closed.

I used Stella B&Ts and the same set I used on yesterday's card, Card Word Puzzle.

This is what the Z1474 6x6 Kraft cards look like (they also come with envelopes, in a 10 pack for $6.95):

Happy creating!  :)

Supplies used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Paper:  Stella B&Ts; Colonial White, Black CS
Stamp:  Card Word Puzzle
Ink:  Black
Embellishments:  Clear Sparkles, Licorice Opaques
Other:  6x6 Kraft Card, 2" circle punch (Fiskars), 3D foam tape, Micro-tip scissors

A Note for You...

I created this card with a couple of new sets called Card Word Puzzle, and Just for You.  I also used a current set from a previous Idea Book called Simple Memories.

I first stamped the floral images in Twilight ink onto the front of the White Daisy cardstock base.

I used a piece of B&T paper from the new Florentine paper pack, and I stamped the flower image onto the left side with Versamark ink.

Then I sprinkled White Daisy embossing powder over top, tapped off the excess, and heat set it.

I then took my waterbrush and Outdoor Denim ink and coloured in the shading on and around the flower to make it pop and give it depth.

The lacey image I stamped onto Grey Wool cardstock is from Simple Memories.  I stamped it with White Daisy pigment ink, then because it takes too long to wait for pigment ink to dry, I simply embossed it with Clear Detail embossing powder.

 I stamped the sentiment in Black ink.

To keep it simple, all I added for embellishments are 3 little Bitty Opaques.

Happy creating  :)

Supplies used (all CTMH):
Paper:  Florentine B&T; Grey Wool, White Daisy CS
Stamps:  Card Word Puzzle, Just for You, Simple Memories
Inks:  Twilight, Outdoor Denim, Black, Versamark
Embellishment:  Bitty Opaques
Other:  Waterbrush, White Daisy and Clear Detail embossing powders

And here's the Deconstructed sketch I used...

Isn't that a fun card???

I used another new paper pack, called Superhero.  It's full of fabulous B&Ts, and so perfect for the boys in our lives!

The main image I actually cut out of one of the B&Ts.  Cute and easy, huh?

Note the twine, stud, and binder clip... they are new products, too!

Mojo Monday #224... So Very Sorry

I played along with the Mojo Monday sketch #224 today.

You may notice some new CTMH products on my sympathy card.

I used a new paper pack called Pemberley, and I have to say, it's so pretty.

The stamp set is also new and it's called Card Word Puzzle.

{The new CTMH items will be available for order on February 1st.}

How I did the flower (and leaves):
  • I inked my flower stamp up first in Versamark ink, then into my Outdoor Denim ink, and then I stamped that onto the Creme Brulee floral B&T.
  • I sprinkled Clear Detail embossing powder over top, tapped off the excess, and then heat set the image.  (The reason I do that is so my ink doesn't run in the next step.)
  • Then I took my Creme Brulee ink and a water brush and basically painted with my water brush.  (I like to squeeze my lid down when the ink pad is closed, and then pick up the ink from the open lid with my water brush.)
  • I basically did the same steps with my leaves, except I stamped them onto Garden Green cardstock, and used Olive ink to paint with.

Until next time, happy creating!  :)

Supplies used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Paper:  Pemberley B&Ts; Colonial White, Kraft, Garden Green, Outdoor Denim CS
Stamp:  Card Word Puzzle
Inks:  Outdoor Denim, Olive, Creme Brulee, Desert Sand, Versamark
Embellishments:  Colonial White grosgrain, Adhesive pearls
Other:  Clear Detail embossing powder, 3D foam tape, Micro-tip scissors, 2 1/2" scallop circle punch (Marvy Uchida)
