Love Is All You Need... {Color Dare Challenge #1}

There's a brand new challenge blog out there called the CTMH Color Dare blog.  I think it's great to have a color challenge blog based soley on Close To My Heart colors.  So I took on the challenge this week.

Our colors to use this week are:  Twilight, Pansy Purple, Sunset, Cranberry, and Sorbet.  We are to use either all of the colors or pick the ones we want to use from the selection.  I chose Twilight, Pansy Purple and Sunset for my card.

Inspiration for my card came from one done by fellow CTMH Consultant Tammera Wisterman.  She used the same retired Happiness stamp set in a very similar way on her wonderful card, and it inspired me to dig my Happiness stamp set out of my "for sale" pile and put it to use.

I also pulled in a little (neutral) black ink onto my card, stamping the musical notes background onto my Colonial White cardstock.  I inked up the image and stamped it off once onto scrap paper before stamping the image onto my cardstock, making it not so dark and allowing it to blend into the background better.

I had punched the circle shape out of my top layer and attached a Pansy Purple piece of cardstock in behind it, but afterthoughts have me thinking that if I created this card again I would change it to a matted piece instead; having the Pansy Purple mat the Colonial White piece and layering it on top of the Twilight.  But it's too late to change it now.  ;)

I'll be back tomorrow with a blog hop project.

So until then, happy creating!  :)

Hold On To Each Other {Mojo Monday #199}

Edited to add:  Gosh, sorry for the blurry photo... I need to check the settings on my camera, I see.
I had a friend stop by to drop off her son last night so I could take care of him while her and her hubby fly away for a week to attend a wedding on the East Coast (we live in Western Canada), and she asked me if I had a wedding card.  Ahem, me?... the card-maker... of course I do... don't I???  After some digging through unpacked boxes I did finally find one I could let her have.  But that definitely caught my attention.  I NEED wedding cards!

So here we go... over the next while, I will be building up my stash (of numerous cards) to also include a selection for weddings.   Funny how one can have soooo many cards, yet still not have what you need when you need it.  How is that possible???  lol

So for my first card to add to my stash, I used the Mojo Monday sketch #199.

I used a similar color combo that I used for an upcoming blog hop I'm participating in on July 15th (be sure to watch for that!), minus the Grey Wool.

My paper rose is a cream colored one that I had bought at the local dollar store, and I sprayed it with a mixture of water/rubbing alcohol/Creme Brulee re-inker in my spray pen.  I trimmed off the greenery attached to the bottom of the store-bought flower and added my own leaves I created/cut out of Black cardstock.

My damask paper is made by stamping in Black and Grey Wool inks with the Two-Step Backgrounds stamp set.  Once again, an all-cardstock card.  Seems to be my thing lately.  ;)

Off for now... gotta do some little boy entertaining.

Happy creating!  :)

You Are In My Thoughts

I created another all-cardstock card, once again using my stamps to make my own patterned paper.

On this card I used the Universal Backgrounds and Rosy Regards stamp sets.

I still had my cardstock and inks out from creating yesterday's card and from all those colors, I picked out Pear and Lagoon for my main colors for today.  Love these colors together.

I stamped the script background in Black ink onto Colonial White cardstock, and then stamped the roses in Lagoon ink and the leaves in Pear ink randomly to fill in the spaces.  With the denseness of the pattern of my background paper, it really makes the sentiment pop with all it's white space.

I made my bow in two pieces.  I wrapped a flat piece of ribbon around the card and adhered it in place with ScorTape.  And the bow I tied as a separate piece, then attached it in the center with ScorTape.  I like the look of bigger bows.  They're just fun.

Hope you liked my card today.  Now why don't you pull out your stamps and make some randomed stamped papers???

Happy creating!  :)

Thought Of You Today... (H2H Inspiration Challenge)

This week at the Heart 2 Heart Challenge blog, there is an inspiration challenge going on.

And this is our inspiration (below):

I took the bright summery colors from the inspriation photo and ran with them for my card.   I also decided to make it a long card (4" x 8 1/2") because of the way the inspiration photos are displayed in a long row.

I've had this Smiles stamp set that I used on my card for quite a while now, but I haven't played with it much (I think like once...), so I pulled it out to put it to some use today.  It's a very cute, whimisical set.

Until next time, happy creating!  :)

Supplies used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Paper:  White Daisy, Pear, Sunny Yellow, Tulip, Ocean CS
Stamp:  Smiles
Inks:  Pear, Sunny Yellow, Tulip, Ocean, Sorbet, Black
Embellishments:  Sunny Yellow button, Crystal Blue waxy flax
Punch:  1 1/4" circle
Other:  Paper crimper (Fiskars), 3D foam tape, Paper piercer

You're Out Of This World! {Mojo #198}

Well it's Monday again!  You know what that means.... it's time to play along with the new Mojo Monday sketch #198.  They have another great sketch for you to try out.

A couple of little details about my card:  I used liquid glass on the window of the spaceship, and white rub-ons for the stitching detail -- the little Xs.

I love the CTMH Fanfare paper pack and MyStickease.  I find the papers and stickers very playful and fun to create with.

I also pulled out my Copics (that I need to use way more often than I do) to color my (Papertrey Ink) rocketship and flame images.

Oh, and before I forget, I want to wish a big Happy 4th of July to my American peeps!
