Paper Trail Blog Hop - Anything Goes!

Welcome to the Paper Trial Blog Hop
You should have arrived from Karen's blog, but this is a circular hop so it doesn't really matter where you begin.  ;)

Each month the Paper Trail Blog Hop features a specific Close To My Heart paper pack, but with a new Idea Book starting August 1st and 8 whole new paper packs to choose from, the powers that be have decided that this month the theme is "anything goes"!  So we are allowed to choose whichever paper pack we want to work with.

I decided to work with the Mischief paper pack because it works perfectly with Wicked, the August Stamp of the Month.

(Unfortunately at the time of my getting ready for the hop, my order of new product had not yet arrived so I had to use cardstock in the same colors that are in the Mischief paper pack.)

Now the obvious use for Mischief is Halloween themed projects, but if you take a close look at the papers in this pack you'll see that you could easily use most of them for any antique themed purposes, too.  Very cool.

So some quick notes about my card...
  • I stamped the "honeycomb" image onto Desert Sand cardstock with Desert Sand ink
  • I used my Cricut to cut the black triangular shapes
  • I created my paper yo-yo with a 1 1/4" x 12" strip of Grey Wool cardstock, scored at every 1/4"
  • I stamped the sentiment onto my paper yo-yo with black ink to give the cardstock some pattern
  • I clear embossed my main image and sentiment
  • I sponged Black ink onto the outer edges of each piece of cardstock before assembly

I hope you enjoyed my card.  Please continue along the Paper Trial Blog Hop to see what Betsy has created.

Cherish The Day

A little old meets new in this card.  I used an old retired set called Oriental Foliage that I had purchased from another Consultant when it had already been retired for quite a while.   {Just goes to show that these old sets are still out there if you ever are looking for a specific set.}

The sentiment is from a new set called Cherish The Day which will be available in November as the Stamp Of The Month.

I like this card.  It's simple, yet elegant in its own way.

Happy creating!  :)

3x3 Card Set and Fold-Up Holder

I found some time to play with my inks and stamps and created this pretty little set of 3x3 cards with an easy-to-make, cute little holder.  There's room in there for the envelopes, too.  ;)

I'm still waiting on my new product order from the new Close To My Heart Idea Book - available August 1st.  Once it arrives, I think I may just have to make another one of these sets with new product.

I random stamped my Kraft cardstock using the I Am stamp set from an old kit called Tickled Pink.  You could very easily use any floral set in it's place, though.
(Or if you don't feel like random stamping, just use B&T instead.)

I used a stamp set called Tasty Treats on the belly band that wraps around the holder, along with the same flower and leaf images from the I Am set.  {I'm not sure if the Tasty Treats set is retired or if it's still available, but I do have a brand new set if anyone is looking to buy one.  I ordered it a while back by accident, and I'm more than willing to sell it.  I don't really need 2 of them...  lol}

Quick instructions to make the holder and belly band:
Holder - Kraft CS:  3 1/4" x 12"; score at 2 1/4", 2 3/4", 6 1/4", 6 3/4", and 10 1/4"
Belly Band - Smokey Plum CS:  1" x 8 1/2"; score at 2", 2 5/8", 5 7/8", and 6 1/2"
Finished holder size:  3 1/2" (h) x 3 1/4" (w) x 1/2" (d)

I hope you enjoyed my project today.

Why don't you give it a try?

They make a great little hand-made gift.
I'll be giving this one away myself on Monday to one of my Workshop attendees as a door prize.

Happy creating!  :)

You're Sweet

I took a break from creating wedding cards to make this sweet card.  Don't you just love ice cream?  My fave flavor is chocolate!  What's yours?

I stamped the circles in Chocolate ink onto Baby Pink cardstock to add some pattern to my card.  And I clear embossed the Colonial White ink, AKA the vanilla ice cream layer, to help it stand out a little more against the White daisy cardstock.

Follow Your Heart

Still on my mission to have some wedding cards in my stash, I created this beauty yesterday.

I have a 50/50 mix of Prisma Glitter and Clear Embossing Powder that I keep on hand; I used that on my butterfly.  The embossing powder seals the Prisma Glitter onto the butterfly so it doesn't flake off all over the place.

You can find the link to the tutorial for the Bachelor Button flower right HERE within this post.

I created another card yesterday, but I'll save it to post for another day.

It's Time To Sell Them Off...

Other than wedding cards, it seems that I have a rather large stash of cards.  How on earth would I ever use these all???

That has me thinking that it's time to offer them up for sale.

If you see any card on my blog that you would like to purchase, please contact me and we'll work out the details.  As long as I still have it in my possession, it's yours!

Just email me with the posted date of the card and a brief description, and whether you live in Canada or the US (or elsewhere), and I'll get back to you.

Have a wonderful day!  :)

 Edited to add:  Just to clarify, my box templates are not being offered as a bonus with purchase of these items.  Those templates are only available with puchase of specific handmade cards that you can view HERE.  :)

CTMH July Spotlight Blog Hop... Color-Ready Kraft Borders

Welcome to the CTMH July Spotlight Blog Hop!  This month we are spotlighting the Color-Ready Kraft Borders.  These come in a handy pack of 50, with several different border patterns and with each at 12" long, you have so many choices.  These borders can be stamped (like I did on my card above), inked, embossed, or left as is, and they are self-adhesive which is perfect to add a quick border to any project.  Love these!

You may have arrived from Wendy's blog, but don't worry if you didn't because this is a circular hop, so it doesn't matter where you begin.

For my card, I started with stamping with Black ink using a small damask pattern from Damask Tiles onto my Color-Ready Kraft Border and built my card from there.  I love how the Kraft color peeking through works so well with the Creme Brulee color.

I used the Two-Step Backgrounds to make my patterned paper.  I'm loving my background stamp sets, so I've been putting them to good use a fair amount lately.  Gotta get your bang for the buck, I tell ya!  I love backgrounds just for that reason.  You can totally create and then re-create something entirely different with them.  But I digress...  ;)

About my felt flower;  I recently got a new washer and dryer set from Sears for our new home and they had large pieces of black felt wrapped around each of their tops measuring about 1 metre x 1 metre.  I totally saw the potential in this "packaging material" and saved it to use it in my scrapbooking.  You can find tutorials on how to make these flowers, but basically I cut a rough circle by hand (about 3-4" in size), then cut it in a spiral starting from the outside and working in towards the center.  Then I just used my very old glue gun to glue it together and then added some white stamens to the center.  Easy peasy.

I hope you enjoyed my card.  Please continue along the hop to Mary's blog to see what she did with the Color-Ready Kraft Borders!

Happy creating!  :)

Love Is All You Need... {Color Dare Challenge #1}

There's a brand new challenge blog out there called the CTMH Color Dare blog.  I think it's great to have a color challenge blog based soley on Close To My Heart colors.  So I took on the challenge this week.

Our colors to use this week are:  Twilight, Pansy Purple, Sunset, Cranberry, and Sorbet.  We are to use either all of the colors or pick the ones we want to use from the selection.  I chose Twilight, Pansy Purple and Sunset for my card.

Inspiration for my card came from one done by fellow CTMH Consultant Tammera Wisterman.  She used the same retired Happiness stamp set in a very similar way on her wonderful card, and it inspired me to dig my Happiness stamp set out of my "for sale" pile and put it to use.

I also pulled in a little (neutral) black ink onto my card, stamping the musical notes background onto my Colonial White cardstock.  I inked up the image and stamped it off once onto scrap paper before stamping the image onto my cardstock, making it not so dark and allowing it to blend into the background better.

I had punched the circle shape out of my top layer and attached a Pansy Purple piece of cardstock in behind it, but afterthoughts have me thinking that if I created this card again I would change it to a matted piece instead; having the Pansy Purple mat the Colonial White piece and layering it on top of the Twilight.  But it's too late to change it now.  ;)

~~~~~~~
I'll be back tomorrow with a blog hop project.
So until then, happy creating!  :)
