WAC Bennett Dam Spill & the Deer

On Friday evening, Lee, Cole and I drove into town to check on our dog who had bladder surgery earlier that day to remove a stone.

He's doing well, but the vet wanted to keep him overnight hooked up to an IV, so we took a spontaneous drive about an hour or so to the WAC Bennett Dam, just past Hudson's Hope, BC, to view the spill.

The last time they released water like this (that I know of) was back in 1996 when they had an issue with sinkholes in the dam.

We drove to view the spill back then, too.
We were all a little nervous about the sinkholes at that time, to say the least, but thankfully they were able to fix the problems.  Whew...

If you are interested, you can read about the issue with the WAC Bennett Dam sinkholes that happened back in 1996-97.

On our way back home, near Hudson's Hope, we passed a quading accident.
Police on site, and first ambulance just arriving on scene.
Looked like a head injury and we didn't see a helmet...
Hoping he's doing okay.

Here's a few more pics of us and the spillway on that quick trip to the dam on Friday...

Saturday morning, Lee, Cole and Tom (Lee's friend) went out fishing.

While they were out on the lake, I had a visitor out my front window...

This guy likes to eat the bird seed off the ground and sometimes directly from the hanging bird feeder.

Home is Where the Heart is... Bless This Nest

I recently bought some retired CTMH stamps from a now former CTMH Consultant, and one of them was Bless This Nest, which I used on this card.

I hap-hazardly stacked the bird houses in a quirky way to make this fun card, suitable for giving to someone who just moved or purchased a new home.

I added a little Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel to the little Bamboo heart.

And I stitched the Bamboo button onto the Olive twill faux bow.

Happy creating!  :)

Supplies used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Paper:  Bamboo, Twilight, Gypsy, White Daisy CS
Stamps:  Bless This Nest - retired, Around the Block - retired
Inks:  Twilight, Olive, Gypsy, Bamboo
Embellishments:  Olive twill, Bamboo button
Punches:  2" Scallop circle, 1 3/4" circle (EK), Scallop border (SU), Heart To Heart (SU), Owl (SU)
Other:  Needle, White thread (other), Micro-tip scissors

Birthday Birdie.... Deconstructed Sketch #59

I got a chance to play along with the Deconstructed Sketch yesterday.

Here's Sketch #59:

I used papers from Footloose and stamps from Life Is Tweet, last month's Stamp of the Month.

The bird is reverse masked, then sponged with ink:  Creme Brulee and Tulip, and Sweet Leaf and Lagoon.

I saw a great tutorial (possibly even a video) on the reverse masking with this bird image earlier this week, possibly last week, but I now can't recall who did it.  If someone knows, please let me know, and I'll add the link to my post.  Thanks.

And of course I had to add a googlie eye to the bird; it just needed it!  lol

Happy creating!

Supplies used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Paper:  Footloose B&Ts; White Daisy CS
Stamp:  Life Is Tweet - June SOTM
Inks:  Black, Lagoon, Sweet Leaf, Creme Brulee, Tulip; Sunset marker
Embellishments:  Creme Brulee grosgrain, Pearl opaques, Lagoon button, White hemp
Other:  Corner rounder, Scallop border punch (SU), Googlie eye (unknown), Scor-tape (ScorPal)

Pacifica Butterfly 3x3 Thank You Cards... Decorative Dainties

I had part of a random stamped 12x12 sheet of Colonial White cardstock left over from my recent card class, so I decided to use it up and make 8 - 3x3 thank you cards.

The random stamping was done with a retired stamp set called Decorative Dainties, and Pacifica ink.

I sponged Pacifica ink onto the Colonial White Flutter Paper Shapes butterflies, making the outer edges a little darker than the centers.

I like to keep a bunch of 3x3 thank you cards on hand to tuck into my customers Close To My Heart or Scentsy orders.

Happy creating!  :)

Supplies used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Paper:  Colonial White, Pacifica CS
Stamps:  Thank You, Decorative Dainties - retired
Ink:  Pacifica
Embellishment:  Flutter Paper Shapes
Other:  Square Scallop punch (EK), 3D foam tape, Sponge

Paper Trail Blog Hop for July... Cruisin'

Welcome to the Paper Trail Blog Hop for July!

You should have arrived from Tracey's blog,
but this is a circular hop, so it doesn't matter where you begin.  ;)

This month we are featuring the Cruisin' paper packet.

My first project to share with you is a standard-card-sized booklet, perfect for jotting down travel notes, and it even has a little pocket inside to hold ticket stubs and whatnots.

Great for the ease of scrapbooking your trip afterwards!

With a needle and thread, I simply stitched the pages into the "book" to secure them in place.

The pocket page was created with a 5x7 clear plastic envelope.  I attached it and then folded it over to match the width of the inside pages, and creased the fold really well.  Then I cut two pieces of B&T paper to tuck inside the envelope.
I then added a little oval tab to the front flap of the clear pocket.

I also created a couple of masculine cards for this hop:

This is what the Cruisin' paper packet looks like:

And with a new month, comes a new Stamp Of The Month for July

Published!... Stamp It! Cards Vol. 9

Hey all!

Remember I mentioned back in February that I was getting my first publication?

Well, here it is!

I created my card back in January, when the products were so new, they were only available to Consultants at the time.  ;)

You can find it, along with many other fabulous creations, in this edition:

Stamp It! Cards Volume 9

It's an exciting day here at the Wizniuk's!  lol

Stay tuned for my second publication, that I can share with you in September!

A Note of Thanks... Card Word Puzzle

This pretty card came together rather quickly.

I heat embossed the large flower image from Card Word Puzzle with White embossing powder onto Smoothie cardstock.

This is how I created the main flower:
  • I first squeezed the lid down onto the closed Smoothie ink pad, then opened it and squeezed some water from my water brush onto the pooled ink in the lid, then mixed it well.
  • I then took a scrap piece of White Daisy cardstock, and using my water brush, I liberally "painted" the watery ink onto the cardstock, working from top to bottom, with side-to-side wide strokes of the brush, being careful to not "rub" or overwork the paper (as this will cause a balling-up or pilling of the top layer).  And you want to be sure not to get your paper too wet.
  • I let my cardstock dry for a minute, then stamped the large flower image in Smoothie ink over top of the waterbrushed ink.
  • I used a sponge dauber with very little Smoothie ink and rubbed it only onto the center of the flower.
  • I then trimmed out the flower out with my scissors, and attached it onto White Daisy cardstock with a piece of 3D foam tape.  The paper naturally curls up a little from the water, which gives it a little more shape.
  • Lastly, I added some little white dots to the flower's center with my Ranger White Opal Liquid Pearls.

And the sentiment is from the same stamp set as the flower image; Card Word Puzzle.

Happy creating!  :)

Father's Day card

June is always my busiest month of the year, it seems.

I would like to share this card that I made for Lee's dad for Father's Day.

It was a bit of a rush; as you can see I quickly snapped a photo of it in the kitchen just before heading out of the house that day.

~~~~~~~
Today is the 2nd day of Cole's soccer tournament, which will be wrapping up today.
His team won both games yesterday, and if they win this morning's game, they will be playing for gold afterwards.
Then after the awards presentations, I have my volunteer work to do.
Hoping the rain stops, although it's not looking too good for today.
This next week, school will be wrapping up, and then hopefully life will slow down a little.
~~~~~~

Just a reminder about my upcoming card class.

It is on Thursday evening, June 28th, from 7-9 pm, and I have 3 spots available.

Contact me if you would like to join us.  :)
