Paper Trail Blog Hop for August... Anything Goes with Scholastic

Welcome to the Paper Trail Blog Hop for August!

You should have arrived from Betsy's blog, but this is a circular hop, so it doesn't matter where you begin.  ;)

Each month we feature a new paper packet, but with August being a month for the release of the new 2012 CTMH Autumn/Winter Idea Book & Catalog, anything goes!  So that means that we get to choose which paper packet we want to use for the hop, whether it is a brand new one, or our choice of one that carried over from the last Idea Book.

This month I decided to play with the new  Scholastic paper packet, one of the paper packets that we don't have on the roster to showcase over the following 5 months.
{We have 8 new paper packets, and only 6 months before the next Idea Book.}

For my projects this month, I actually used the Scholastic Workshop on the Go Kit, which comes with an exclusive Scholastic WOTG stamp set - Everyday Life, new Noted Canvas Shapes, Durables Squares Studs, as well as an instruction booklet.

First off, let me start with a layout.

This layout is the bonus layout from the Scholastic Workshop on the Go Kit.
(please click on the photo to get a clearer view - not sure why it looks blurry - wondering if there's something up with Picmonkey???)

Now I just need to add photos to my layout (as usual lately, right?), and the journaling.

I want to do this layout about myself.
It might be a little misleading, because of the title.
I am actually not a big reader, never really have been.
But, I love books.
I buy books with good intention.
Every once in a while I actually will finish one.
And that is what I want to journal about.
The ones that I read, cover to cover.
And more so the feeling of accomplishment when I do.

Yeah, I'm goofy.
Many of you reading this probably read a book a week...  lol
I can probably count on both hands (and maybe a couple of toes) how many books I've read over my lifetime.
And that likely includes the ones we were forced to read in school... ha!
But, crazy as it sounds, I still love books!  :)

~~~~~~~
I wanted to make a card to share, too.
So I created a birthday card with a very masculine feel to it.
Perfect for one of Cole's school-aged friends.
~~~~~~~

And lastly, I made a bookmark.

It is a card-style bookmark.

The base measures 6" tall x 3 1/4" wide.

You just slide it over the page you were reading, and the top part will stick out of the top of the closed book.

And that top part is the only place you can add any bulkiness to, keeping the rest of it as flat as possible.

~~~~~~~
This is what the Scholastic papers in the packet look like:
(ignore the hole punch parts, these are just my 6x6 sample pieces)
And with a new month, there is a new Stamp of the Month:
Baroque Borders
~~~~~~~

I hope you enjoyed your stop on my blog.

Please continue along the Paper Trail Blog Hop for August, by hopping over to Amy's blog.

Happy creating!  :)

A sneaky peak at Pear & Partridge - Warmest Wishes and Retro Sketch #22

Tomorrow is the big day!

The release of the new 2012 CTMH Autumn/Winter Idea Book and Catalog, that is.

And today I have a Christmas card to share with all of you, giving you a sneaky peek of what's coming.

Yeah, I know, it's a Christmas card... and it's only August.  ha!

But the papers in the new Pear & Partridge paper packet are just so pretty,
that one just has  to play.

Looky, see...

{I used sketch #22 from the Retro Sketches blog.}

Yummy, right?
I love that red patterned B&T paper!

The stamped images are from the new October Stamp of the Month - Very Merry Christmas.

If you look at the button, you will see the new Cranberry Baker's Twine.

And if you look on the mitten, you'll see something else that is new... Pink Glitz Glitter Gel.
{Two other new colours of Glitz Glitter Gel are Green, and Almond.}

The card is just so cute!  :)

Be sure to check back tomorrow, as there will be a new Paper Trail Blog Hop going on!

New CTMH Product... Avonlea Sympathy card

Here's a sneak peek at just a little of the new product in the 2012 Autumn/Winter Idea Book, available August 1st.

I created this sympathy card using the following new product:
Avonlea Paper Packet
Words of Comfort stamp set
Burlap ribbon
Rhinestone badge button

I had fun working with the new Burlap ribbon.  It is 1 1/2" wide, and full of so many possibilities!

I made the flower using this tutorial by Connie MacFarlane.
I just flattened my flower out to be able to add the rhinestone to the center.

Happy creating!  :)

Paper:  Avonlea B&Ts; Colonial White CS
Stamp:  Words of Comfort
Inks:  Chocolate, Olive, Juniper
Embellishments:  Burlap ribbon, Rhinestone badge button

Take Time to Follow Your Dreams... 5x7 Footloose Card

Quite a while back I made a 5x7 insert page (just like this, but using papers from the retired You & Me Kit) for the retired journal CTMH used to carry.  You can see that one here.

The journal had a clear front pocket to hold a 5x7 insert, to give you the option to decorate it however you wanted.  And the inside pages were blank.

I thought the layout design would make a great card, so I did a re-do of the insert and created a 5x7 card, this time using papers from the Footloose paper packet.

Just as cute!

Happy creating!  :)

Supplies used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Papers:  Footloose B&Ts; Cocoa, Colonial White, Sweet Leaf CS
Stamps:  You & Me - retired, Tiny Typewriter Alphabet
Inks:  Chocolate, Lagoon, Sweet Leaf, Creme Brulee
Embellishments:  Pearl Opaques, Natural Hemp
Punch:  Threading Water border (Fiskars)
Other:  Paper Crimper (Fiskars),  Micro-tip scissors, Sponge

PTI Botanical Silhouettes

I recently purchased a Papertrey Ink Botanical Silhouettes 2010 Anniversary stamp set from someone through their blog, and was excited to play with it last week after it arrived in the mail.
(PTI Anniversary sets cannot be purchased, but have to be earned by way of purchasing 12 stamp sets within a year from PTI.)

I've been too busy to get this picture (or anything else) loaded onto my blog, but I had a few minutes this morning before work begins.

It's a nice set of stamps that I had my eye on when I saw some of the beautiful artwork on blogs back in  2010, so when it came up for sale, I jumped on the chance of owning it.  ;)

It's gonna be another warm day here in the North.
Thank goodness for air conditioning!
Otherwise I'd be a cranky girl.  ha!

Off to get ready for my day...

Happy creating!  :)

Supplies used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Paper:  Kraft, Gypsy, Olive, Colonial White CS
Stamp:  Botanical Silhouettes (PTI)
Inks:  Black, Olive, Gypsy, Smokey Plum
Embellishments:  Olive button, White hemp
Punches/embossing folder:  Scallop border punch (SU), Grass edge (Martha Stewart); Victoria embossing folder (Provo Craft)
Other:  Sponge, Micro-tip scissors
