Sweet Mini Album ... a recap

I shared my Sweet Mini Album, that I created with the Dotty for You paper pack, page-by-page over the past week or so, and thought I'd do a recap of the entire album in one post.  ;)

The Dotty for You paper pack is available for just $5 with a minimum $35 order from the CTMH 2012 Spring/Summer Idea Book.  Available only until May 31st.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

This past week, I've had some questions on how I did the cover.
I'll answer that towards the end of this post.

Okay, so how did I create the cover?

You could totally follow Mary Gunn's instructions - - - she created a video tutorial, just be sure to watch her cover video and her cover fix video, too.

Or, you could do what I did (as I wanted mine to be a little taller than the size of the envelope).
(or you could also create one with chipboard instead of cardstock)

I started with 2 pieces of 6 1/2" x 7 1/2" Kraft cardstock.  Scored both of those pieces at 1" on the longer side, so when it's folded along the score line, you have a 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" square front.

I adhered these pieces together.  (I use Tombow Mono Multi glue, as it gives a little movement or wiggle room before permanent adherement.)
I used my bone folder to make sure the score line was nice and crisp.
And with layering the two pieces, I found that once it was folded on the edge (along the score line), it made the inside piece just slightly too big.  So I trimmed the slight excess on both sides.

That's the front piece of the cover.

For the back piece of the cover, I cut 2 pieces of 6 1/2" x 9 1/2" Kraft cardstock.  Scored both pieces at 1", 7 1/2", and 8 1/2" along longer sides.

I adhered these two pieces in the same manner as the above pieces.

Then I simply adhered the front piece to the back piece to create the cover.

Through trial and error, I found that the inside piece can buckle when you adhere the two pieces of Kraft cardstock together, so it's super important to make sure your score lines are really good and that your inside piece fits well.
(this is where I have to say that if I were to do it again, I likely would use chipboard...)

Next, I lined the inside of the album cover with 2 pieces of Grey Wool cardstock.
The back piece measures 6 1/4" x 9 1/4".
The front piece measures 6 1/4" x 7 1/4".

Again, you want to use your bone folder to get a really crisp fold.

Last step, I used my Crop-A-Dile to punch the holes for the two binder rings.

Hopefully I've explained it well enough...

If you would like to see the supplies I used for my album, I have broken them down page by page on the previous posts... please just scroll down.  ;)

And once again, I would like to give a shout-out to where I found my inspiration for my mini album:

Happy creating!  :)
