I am happy to have found some time to create a card for World Card Making Day.
I'm uploading it onto the Moxie Fab World blog in the Christmas card division, for a chance to win some terrific goodies.
Oh, and here's the Gallery of Cards to find some great inspiration from.
Now let's discuss my card.
That background was fun to do.
I saw this great and easy tutorial on Dawn Olchefske's blog on how to ink up your embossing folders and use them as stamps.
So smart! And it got my wheels turning. ;)
For my card background, I used Kraft cardstock and Cranberry pigment ink, plus a Cuttlebug embossing folder called Holly Ribbons.
Because I used pigment ink, I quickly sprinkled it with Clear Detail embossing powder and heat set it.
The main image is from an older SU set called A Wish of Peace.
The sentiment is from a new CTMH set called Merry & Bright, and I stamped it onto a piece of Colonial White cardstock ribbon banner shape that I cut with the new Cricut Artiste cartridge.
I glittered up the tree with a glue pen and some chunky glitter.
Happy creating! :)
Supplies used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Paper: Kraft, Cranberry, Colonial White CS
Stamps: Merry & Bright, A Wish of Peace (SU)
Inks: Chocolate, Cranberry pigment
Embellishments: Dk. Chocolate grosgrain, Cranberry grosgrain, Bling gem, Chunky glitter (SU)
Other: Cricut Artiste cartridge, Cuttlebug Holly Ribbons embossing folder (Provo Craft), Glue pen, 3D foam tape, Paper crimper (Fiskars), Sponge, Clear Detail embossing powder
Love the details on your tree, fabulous card!

ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous, Vicki. I'm going to have to get out my fir tree stamp now that I've seen this card. The background is just stunning.
ReplyDeleteThat background is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card. Always enjoy seeing your creations but totally understand where you are at in your life. Last fall I felt pulled in so many ways by others and decided it was time to evaluate what I was doing. Changes made and now am happy and content again. I realized I needed more me time. Will be praying that all will fall in place as you walk through the days ahead.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Your card has a great nostalgic/classic feel to it, love it!
