World's Greatest Dad... CTMH Color Dare #82

I was invited to be a Guest Designer on the Color My Heart Color Dare blog this week.

Of course I wanted to participate!  ;)

This week, the color dare challenge is to use Goldrush and Topiary on a project.

And this is what I made using those colors (white, black, greys and tans are allowed too):

(Inspired by this card.)

A fun pop-up card, suitable for Cole to give to Lee for Father's Day.

I created my own pop-up by starting with a White Daisy A2 card base, scored down the center, and with the card closed, I measured in 2" from top and bottom and marking with a pencil.

I drew lines 1" long towards the center of the card starting from the pencil marks.

Then I took my scissors and cut along those lines.

I connected the cut lines by making a score line on the most inner point.

From there I covered the White Daisy card base with a Topiary A2 card, and just glued them together.

Then I stamped and decorated the inside with punches and dies.

And the stars are "floating" on strips of transparency.

Super fun, right?

Check out what everyone else on the Color My Heart Color Dare blog has created, too.

Happy creating!  :)

Cowboy Get Well card for my Dad...

Okay, I decided to re-make my other pop-up card I did today to make it more suitable for my Dad. This is a much more simplified, less frilly card...

Again, here's the link for the tutorial: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/surprise_pop_up_card/

What I used:

Sarsaparilla B&Ts
Black, Colonial White, Barn Red and Twilight cardstocks
Twilight, Barn Red and Black inks
Out West stamp set
Genuine Country stamp set
Say It In Style stamp set
White Uni-ball Signo Gel Pen
Staedtler triplus gel-liner pens in Gold and Silver (for some detail on the cowboy hat)
Black CTMH marker
Twill ribbon
Metal silver grommet (WalMart - sewing dept.)
Pop-dots
1" circle punch
2" circle punch
Circle Coluzzle (for the 2 larger circles)
Sponge

Pop-up Card...

I took out some supplies this morning after I saw the tutorial for this card on the SCS newsletter. Here's the link for the tutorial: Surprise Pop Up Card

What I used:

Cranberry Fleurs Des Jardines B&T (retired)
Cranberry, Olive and White Daisy cardstocks
Cranberry and Black inks
White Uni-ball Signo Gel Pen
Black CTMH marker
Cranberry grosgrain, Black organdy and Olive Chenille Sassy strands
Metal silver grommet (WalMart - sewing dept.)
Pop-dots
1" circle punch
2" circle punch
2 1/2" Mega Marvy Uchida scallop circle punch
3" Giga Marvy Uchida scallop circle punch
Ticket tag corner punch (SU)
Black bitty brad
Sponge

To make the center flowers, I just cut the larger one out of the B&T, inked the edges and pop-dotted it. Then I cut the smaller one from the B&T, inked it's edges, put a bitty brad on it and pop-dotted it onto the larger flower.

I was planning on making a card for my Dad who's in the hospital, but it turned into this. Really not manly at all, but I might give it to him anyway and make him another card that is more his style when I get some more time... You'd think I'd have a card suitable for him in all my gazillions of cards I have made, but no.
