Hi There

I was playing with the new CTMH colour of the year - Bashful, and made these 3x3 cards.

Such a soft and pretty pink.

Another new thing to mention is that our white-core cardstock is double-sided now, with the original colour on the front, and a lighter shade on the back.

You should be able see the slight difference in the shades in these photos.

I LOVE that it doubles our cardstock colours!

3x3 Valentine's Boxed Set

It is almost Valentine's Day....

Here is a sweet 3x3 card box which is roomy enough to hold a bunch of 3x3 cards and envelopes.

I have four cards and envies in there, but there is still lots of room for more.

There is something about 3x3 sized cards that I love.

And that Operation Smile True Love stamp set, gahh, so cute!

Happy creating!  :)

It's the Little Things...

It's the Little Things is an upcoming stamp of the month set for November.

So while this post is a little early, I wanted to share it now because it is quite summery with all the flowers in the set.

These two cards show a nice combination of all five of our new CTMH colors:
Glacier, Thistle, Pixie, Flaxen and Canary.

I used a 1" wide post-it to cover a strip of the card base, and randomly stamped the flowers and leaves in various colors.

Then I simply peeled the post-it strip off, and stamped the sentiment with Slate ink.

I added a few Bitty Sparkles to add a little bling.

And that was it.  Seriously easy and fast.

I basically repeated the same for this little 3x3 sized card.

Although I see I didn't add any Bitty Sparkles.  Easy enough to fix.  lol

Happy creating!  :)

Supplies used (all CTMH):
Paper:  White Daisy CS
Stamps:  It's the Little Things - Nov SOTM
Inks:  Glacier, Thistle, Pixie, Flaxen, Canary, Slate
Embellishment:  Bitty Sparkles

Washi Tape Fun! A Gift Set of Four 3x3 Cards & Matching Holder

Over Christmas break, I had fun playing with my washi tape.

Some of the washi tapes I used on these were offered in a holiday mini and are currently unavailable because the holiday mini ended on Dec. 31st.  But the good news is that the pink dot, woodgrain, and yellow triangle washi tapes will be available again in the Spring/Summer 2014 Idea Book which goes live on February 1st.  The blue and grey is available now.

I luv making 3x3 cards, and using the washi offers a different twist to my usual cards.

I can share with you the basic info on the box.  I jotted down the dimensions and scoring info.
I used a piece of cardstock cut at 5 1/4" x 9 1/4" (although next time I think I would make the length longer than 9 1/4" by another inch or so).

I scored on the short side at 1" and 4 1/4"
and on the long side at 2", 3", and 7 1/4".

Happy creating!  :)

Supplies used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Paper:  White Daisy CS
Stamps:  Holiday Tags - happy birthday, happy Valentine's day; Word Balloons - word bubble, thanks; Sparkle and Shine WOTG set - star - retired; Whooo's Your Valentine - heart, owl - retired
Inks:  Lagoon, Chocolate, Slate, Honey, Cotton Candy
Punches:  Scallop Border, 1 3/4" circle (EK), Mega scallop heart (Marvy Uchida)
Other:  Cricut Artiste cartridge - word bubble shape, Corner Chomper (WRMK), 3D foam tape, Micro-tip scissors

Cloud Nine - January is National Papercrafting Month!

Did you know that January is National Papercrafting Month?

Well, it is.   : )

And to celebrate, during the month of January, when you place a minimum $35 Close To My Heart order, you can get the exclusive Cloud Nine kit for just $15 (retail value of $46).

The kit comes with trendy papers, a fun stamp set, a roll of teal shimmer trim, a sheet of silver and antiqued gold durables triangles, die-cuts shapes to work with the stamp set images, and 10 card bases with envelopes.  Oh, and I can't forget about the gold polka-dotted washi tape!  Super cute!

But, if you know me at all, I decided to change it up a little.  lol

I've really been wanting to start scrapping my photos more.
(I just ordered a photo printer on Boxing Day, so once it arrives, I will be able to print photos as I need them for my layouts... yay!)

So I created a layout perfect for our photos from one of our trips to Hawaii.
(To the kit, I added a sheet of Creme Brulee CS, a sheet of Colonial White CS, and a piece of Sunset CS.)

I cut the title using the Cricut Artbooking cartridge.  I actually cut it twice, once in Colonial White, and once in Sunset and just layered them so you can see the Sunset peeking out from behind.

I also "painted" on some Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel onto the title piece to give it shimmer.

~~~~~
Then I created a set of six 3x3 cards with some of the leftovers and the Pun Fun stamp set... and I still have some paper left!
Can you see the Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel on each of the cards?
Adds a super cute touch!
Celebrate National Papercrafting Month
with the Cloud Nine Kit!
Die-Cut Snowflake 3x3 Holiday Cards & Gift Box Set
I love the look of using the negative space left from a die-cut shape.
And there is a challenge going on this week over at Flourishes to use your negative die-cut space on a project, so I'm going to link my project up to that.
Why not play along?
I made these very simple 3x3 holiday cards, 4 of each style.  The inspiration for my cards came from Pinterest (she used a butterfly shape on her cards), but when I tried the link, it takes you to a closed site.
For the card holder, I found instructions here on Beth Beard's blog.
The box is 2" deep (from front to back), so there's lots of room for 8 cards and 8 envelopes.
Hope you enjoyed!
Happy creating!  :)
Supplies used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Paper:  Sparkle and Shine B&Ts; Kraft CS
Stamp:  Holiday Tags
Ink:  Chocolate
Other:  Oval punch (SU), 3D foam tape
Claire 3x3 Floral Thank You Card... and girls' trip notes
Here is a little 3x3 thank you card I created back in January, when I had a creative week and I had created a bunch of items with all of the new Spring/Summer papers.  Some of which will have to wait to be shared in the upcoming months for the Paper Trail Blog Hops, but this one I can share with you now.
I love how it turned out.
I stamped the Whisper (light grey) cardstock piece with a stamp from Distressed Backgrounds inked in Whisper ink.
The flower from Card Word Puzzle was simply stamped onto one of the patterned papers and trimmed out with my scissors, but I added the white dots in the center of the flower with a White Chalk marker.
The leaves I simply hand cut from Sweet Leaf cardstock and ran them through my trusty old paper crimper.
The Colonial White square cardstock piece and the flower were pop-dotted with 3D foam tape.
Really very easy, yet very appealing to my eye.
On another note...
Well, I had tons-o-fun on my girls' trip to Edmonton to celebrate one of my friend's 40th birthday.
It was fabulous and really the only "complaints" I had from the trip was that Richie Sambora backed out of the last leg of the Bon Jovi concert tour, so that was a little disappointing.  And the darned weather report changed.  All my lighter clothes I packed just didn't cut it in all the snow.  But we all had packed like that and then we just had to make do.  lol
Other than that, it was awesome and a much needed break from our normal lives.
Some of the things we packed into our trip other than the tons of shopping we did:
  • We splurged and rented a stretch limo to take us to and from the Bon Jovi concert.
  • The next night we went to the Comic Strip (Bourbon Street, West Edmonton Mall) to watch a comedian who had a show that night.
  • Then after the comedian we went next door to The Red Piano - Dueling Piano Bar & Bistro to watch and be thoroughly entertained by the dueling pianos.  We closed the place down.  If you were there, we were the fun group or the group having the most fun, depending on how you viewed us...  but then again there weren't all that many people there.  ;)
  • The next night we treated ourselves to a proper evening out, got all gussied up and took a taxi downtown to Ruth's Chris for dinner.  Boy did we dine!  It was so enjoyable.  We didn't want to leave.  We stayed long and late and talked and then had coffee and dessert.  Loved our waiter.  When we asked if he needed us to leave to open the spot for others, he told us the table was ours for the night.  I actually think it wasn't overly busy that night.
On the 7 hour drive back home, we started discussing our next girls' trip.  :)
That's it for me today.
Happy creating!  :)
