Snow Flurries...

Well, officially we had our first snow flurries on Tuesday (Sept. 29th). No offense, but YUCK! Thankfully it melted the next day. I am so not a winter person. I'm what you'd call an 'indoor' girl. I don't like too much heat, I hate the cold, and I'm not a lover of bugs of any kind. lol

Now that the season is close to changing from Fall to Winter, at least around here, I thought this was a fitting card to make. Earlier today I picked up a copy of PaperCrafts magazine (Nov/Dec '09) and saw a card by Ivanka Lentle that I had to re-create. This is my version of that card.

Supplies used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted): Colonial White CS; Creative Basics Animal Cookies B&T; Snow Flurries, and Christmas Scripts stamp sets; White embossing powder; Versamark ink, Black ink; Glue pad (Tsukineko); Prisma Glitter; Black bigger brad; Loop edge punch (Martha Stewart), Snowflake punch (Marvy Uchida).

I'm so jealous. I'm from Northern NH where we get flurries this time of year but now that we've moved to NC the leaves aren't even changing. It's kind of sad.

Your card is absolutely beautiful!

love the way you made it look like snow on the red. I guess if you see enough of it you have a better understanding of what it should look like. We didn't get much where we lived in Virgina and we don't get any snow here in Florida. Did you say you used an embossing folder for the swirls? Very pretty card.

OMGsh....this card is WONDERFUL!!! You're a creative genius :0) As far as the snow goes...send some to West Texas (we had a 98-degree day yesterday)!!!

We had flurries this week too. The only thing that makes it bearable is making snowflake cards! Love your take on the Papercrafts card. That one stood out to me too! I like yours even better.

Thanks for all the nice comments!

Leslie, for the swirls, I used a loop edge punch (Martha Stewart).

Katy, I'll just need your address and I'll get the trucks lined up to haul the snow on down to you... not sure how I would pay for that, though! But you are welcome to it. Maybe someone will take it away if I put a sign up saying it's FREE? lol Unfortunately snow is the lesser of the evils. It's the biting cold (along with cars that won't start) and the awful icy roads that I really don't like. Oh well. I do live in Canada!!

Hi Vicki,
Oh my goodness! I LOVE your card! The MS punch for the borders is just gorgeous! Your card is stunning! My card may have got you started, but I think I like yours better!!
And here's a very huge coincidence...I used to live in Fort St. John many, many, many moons ago and have been to Charlie Lake! I couldn't believe it when I saw that's where you're from. I have wonderful memories of our time up North.
Take care, Ivanka

Wow, Ivanka, however did you find me? I love that you are from here, well at least at some point in your life you were. Very cool! Thanks for such a kind comment. Your card was very inspiring! :)
