Sunburst Sympathy Card... using up the scraps

I've been seeing so many sunburst cards, that I've been wanting to try one out myself.

I created this one with scraps from oodles of leftover papers from over the years, pulling just the similar yellows and oranges from the packs.

I considered sewing a zigzag stitch where each paper meets, but it wasn't until I had already glued the paper pieces down.  I didn't want to risk gumming up my sewing machine... again... so I will just leave that for the next one.  (I had to take it in for repair the last time I did that... lol)

For the strips, I cut them at 1 1/4" wide, with the longest piece being about 4 1/2" long.  I then trimmed the sides of each piece with my trimmer to create triangles.  (Using the center point of one end and cutting to the most outer point at the opposite end, and repeating on the other side.)

I also had to trim the bottom two pieces to create the flat edge, but other than that it was very easy.

Once they were all glued in place, I turned the card over and took my scissors and trimmed away the excess overhanging parts.

I then punched a 1 1/4" circle from Creme Brulee cardstock, trimmed part of it off, and sponged some Autumn Terracotta ink onto the edges.

Once I glued that into place, I added some Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel over top of the partial circle, spreading it out with the bottle tip.

The sentiment is from a wonderful set called Words of Comfort.

Happy creating!  :)

This is beautiful. It's hard (for me, anyway) to make a sympathy card with bright colors, but you've totally done it.
